What We Do
Campus Outreach and Consultation
The Counseling Center is dedicated to fostering resilience among students and the USF community through the provision of campus prevention and intervention services. Explore how our signature offerings can help Build Your Inner Bull and a community of caring.
St. Petersburg & Sarasota-Manatee Services
All pieces of training and the process to request outreach/mental health promotion are specific to Tampa. Please visit the main websites for the St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee campuses below.
Outreach & Prevention Workshops
Our workshops are interactive and educational. We focus on resiliency based learning objectives that help students maximize their strengths, learn new ways to cope, connect with others, and prepare them to be psychologically well and academically successful. Note: Due to high student demand we are unable to meet requests in the last 6 weeks of each semester.
Campus Connect - Suicide Prevention
Suicide prevention is a community responsibility, the more we know and can look out for one another, the safer the community becomes. Campus Connect is a gatekeeper training that will teach you how to recognize warning signs and risk factors of suicide, assess the level of risk for someone in crisis, ask someone if he/she is thinking of suicide, and refer someone to the right resources.
Mental Health First Aid for Higher Education
According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, Mental Health First Aid for Higher Education is designed with colleges’ and universities’ unique culture and resources in mind. Training students, faculty and others in higher education settings how to recognize the symptoms of emerging mental illnesses or to assist young adults in a mental health crisis can help lessen the severity and impact of mental illnesses.
Campus Community Consultation
The professional staff of the Counseling Center are available to all members of the USF community for consultation, professional development, and intervention recommendations surrounding issues that concern the lives of students.
